Welcome to the Sacramento Women & Faith website.

Do you feel a sense of satisfaction when you hear that a woman is able to share
her exploration and
examinination of issues deeply rooted in her spiritual tradition?
Do you sometimes find that the expression of your faith feels incomplete?
Are you aware of how many of the world's religious traditions have historically
been ordered in such a way as to relegate roles based on gender? With women's
voices being largely unheard?
Do you feel that the world has an urgent need to hear the wisdom that women
can bring to their faith? To feel the strength and compassion that women can bring
to their community?
Purpose
Sacramento Women & Faith (SacWaF) attempts to address some of these needs and
concerns raised
above by providing a meeting and discussion ground for women and men to
read of, write about, and hear
lectures by prominent women of various spiritual traditions.
Whether a women is Christian, Jewish,
Muslim, Buddhist, or Hindu, SacWaF would like to invite a conversation on her
perspective on how her tradition has shaped her life and shaped her spititual growth.
SacWaF would like to hear about her traditions in her own words.
Although SacWaF is not
intended as an interfaith dialogue, it may be that there are similarities
and differences among the religious traditions that come to light in these
discussions. Similarly, although the politics of feminism is not the intended
subject matter, it may be that this will sometimes be considered in the course
conversations.
We at SacWaF would like to offer these readings, writings, and lectures
with the hope that you will be inspired
to contribute to the community of all in
ways that are consistent with what you might learn at SacWaF.
